20 Apr 09 Attending both seminar days is mandatory
There has been questions about attending the seminar, so to clarify these question: by default all students must be present on both seminar days to pass the course. Contact course staff if you cannot make it.
18 Apr 09 Seminar schedule available
Seminar schedule is now available in course web page
14 Apr 09 New seminar days
New seminar days are 21.4 16:15-20:00 and 22.4 16:15-20:00. We apologize for not posting this earlier.
22 Feb 09 Scheduling of seminar days will change
The seminar days are currently scheduled inconveniently for NordSecMob students, and will be rescheduled. I'll confirm the new dates, times, and places when I get a firm confirmation for them. If you have pressing engagements near the current dates (e.g. will be out of the country), please let us know so we can avoid those dates. At this point you should be getting busy with the practical execution of your topic. Please start early to avoid schedule crunches. Best of luck :)
22 Feb 09 Attack plan review and other updates
The attack plans are now up for your review. See the Topics and groups page for a link to the attack plans of other groups. (If you got a CC from the group under review that's OK too.) A couple of groups have dropped out at this point. This doesn't affect the review assignments for attack plans. If a group you should be reviewing has dropped out, it doesn't affect your grading (you don't need to do compensating work). We'll most likely re-balance the review assignments for the paper draft review to make the effort distribution more even. So, when the paper draft review begins, please re-check your review assignments. When giving feedback, remember that the goal of your feedback should be to *improve the other group's work*. So, please try to be constructive, specific, and honest as possible. Pointing out weaknesses is very good, as long as you justify your reasoning and suggest improvements.
29 Jan 09 Clarification: deliverable files are sent as attachments
Deliverable files (e.g. PDF files, LaTeX sources, etc) should be compressed into one ZIP file (preferred; tar.gz OK too) and attached to the e-mail you send to the course address. This is a change from previous years. The instructions have now been updated to reflect this (but were incorrect before today).
29 Jan 09 Topics and groups, timeline added
A list of topics and groups has been added to the course web page. The table also contains peer review assignments (= groups, whose work your group will review). PLEASE REVIEW your group information. In particular, check your e-mail addresses; they need to be correct because they are used for peer review feedback. I'm quite sure I didn't copy all the e-mail addresses right from the topic sheet. If your e-mail address is not correct in the table, please send an e-mail to the course e-mail address. There is a draft timeline on the Timeline page. The first deadline is paper TOC & references, which will be two weeks from now. If the timeline changes, we'll use Noppa news to inform you about it. The presentation schedule (for the seminar) will be updated later on in the course. If you already know that you cannot be present at a certain time, let us know.
29 Jan 09 About protected content
Noppa allows us to "protect" specific pages, e.g. pages with topics and groups. The pages are (apparently) available after Noppa login to all Noppa users. It will be protected from casual browsers and search engines. Keep this in mind with respect to your topics. If you feel that you don't want to expose your topic to this large an audience, contact us and we can arrange some alternative way of handling your topic.
05 Jan 09 Course starting in January 2009
The first lecture will be held Jan 22, 2009. See the Lectures page for the time and the place. You must be present on the first lecture to participate in the course.
