29 Jan 09 Dec and Jan exams graded
December 08 and January 09 exams have now been graded. See Noppa "Results" page for your exam grade, per question points, and grade limits. Because the results are a bit late, I'm forwarding these results to Oodi (opintorekisteri) directly. If you wish to discuss your exam grading, please contact us via the course e-mail. A few comments about specific exam questions. Many people confused "bit" and "block" corruption in the block cipher modes of operation question. For instance, corruption in a ciphertext block only corrupts one plaintext *bloc in ECB. However, a one-bit corruption in the ciphertext flips, on the average, *half* of the plaintext bits (not just one). In the Diffie-Hellman question no calculator is needed -- however, remember to use reductions :-). If you reduce as you go, the numbers will be very small. For instance: 8^4 = (-3)^4 = 9^2 = (-2)^2 = 4 (mod 11).
05 Jan 09 December exam grading
