The special assignment is an independently conducted technical or scientific research or software project in the field of networking, online services, telecommunications business, or information security. It may also be a literature survey on an advanced topic.

Assignments should be agreed on beforehand with one of the following professors:

Even though assignments anyway need to be approved by a professor, they can also be carried out with researchers, lecturers or doctoral students. For additional information about the people available, please refer to the the Data Communications Software research group.

The agreement on a special assignment consist in the definition of:

  • the goals and expected outcomes;
  • the number of credits;
  • the deliverables for grading; and
  • the deadline for the completion of the work.
The work is usually individual but may be carried out as a group. The course is is generally graded on the scale 0-5, even though it may also be graded as pass/fail in special cases. Please check with the supervising professor for the details.
