Students sign up by sending an application to T-110.5291@tkk.fi. Please also include the course in your own courses in Noppa in order to receive the News by email.

The applications are accepted after the first meeting but before the deadline given in the schedule. Participation in the English course KIE-98.1310 is optional but strongly recommended. However, an Integrated English language support course is mandatory for all students (except for the ones taking KIE-98.1310). Signing up for the integrated English language support course is done in the the same application email.

Choose 5 favorite topics from the topics list. Prepare to do the seminar paper from any of these five topics. If you want to propose your own topic, you need to discuss it with the professor and must have a tutor for that topic. Doctoral students are expected to have their own topic while M.Sc students normally achieve better results by taking one from the list.

In the e-mail you should mention:

• Your name and student number in the subject line
• Given name, family name
• Student number
• E-mail address
• Your Aalto University account username (for Optima account)
• Participation in the English course Kie-98.1310 (Yes/No)
• Participation in the Integrated English language support course (Yes/No). If No, please specify a reason.
• Your major and minor (or MSc program)
• Your transcript of completed courses
• 5 Topics of your choice ordered by your priority (topic number, topic title, Tutor Name).

The sign-up emails will be acknowledged (manually) as the course personnel processes them.

Note: Exchange students who consider taking this course are asked to describe in the email their background in networking and security and motivation for taking this course. They will be asked to meet with the teacher before being allowed to sign up.
