Second Seminar of Nordic Network in Engineering Education Research (NNEER)

Mustion linna, Finland, 25-27.5.2011

The aim of NNEER is to develop Engineering Education Research in the Nordic and Baltic countries and to increase collaboration among researchers and doctoral students in these countries. The network also actively collaborates with SEFI EER working group. NNEER is supported by NordForsk through a three-year grant.

The kick-off seminar of NNEER was held in May 2010 in Sweden to initiate the network.  21 researchers met for two days to present their research and discuss joint future activities. The second NNEER seminar will continue this collaboration.  The goals of the seminar include identifying joint research questions, which could be tackled in international collaboration and/or with different methodological approaches so that the strengths of  different research groups or individual researchers could support each other.  We also aim to discuss how we could jointly support research training and PhD work instruction in the area.

The seminar is organized in Svartå Manor (http://www.mustionlinna.fi/) starting at lunch on Wed 25th of May and ending at lunch on Friday 27th.  The venue is located about 60 kilometers to the west of Helsinki.  Bus transformation will be arranged to/from Helsinki Center and Aalto University Otaniemi Campus area on Wednesday and Friday.

The seminar is funded by NNEER.  There is no participation fee and all travel and lodging costs from participants from Nordic countries and 70% of travel costs of participants from Baltic countries can be covered by the network. The number of participants is limited to 35 persons. To support the international collaboration aspect, the organizer reserves the right to limit the number of participants from one country.

The participants are expected to provide a brief written summary of their own research activities which will be delivered to other participants.
